Reporting to the Economic Development Director, this 35-hour per week position performs clerical and administrative support work for the department. Contributes to the Economic Development Office initiatives.
Examples of work:
Provides clerical support for economic development assignments
Receives and respond to emails, telephone, and in-person inquiries on varied issues
Performs data input, database management, and organization of online files
Processes invoices and payments, and assists in the administration of grants
Researches land use, zoning, and environmental regulations as needed
Becomes familiar with the office’s social media and search engine optimization (Google Analytics, Citizen Plus,WordPress)
Assists with the Economic Development Office’s monthly newsletter, outreach campaigns, and social media postings
High school diploma with 2-3 years’ related experience; Associate’s degree desirable
Self-motivated with attention to detail; enjoys analyzing facts and information
Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
Passion for community development and learning
Clerical and financial skills
Competence in utilizing standard office computer applications including spreadsheet, database programs, and graphic software
Must be able to function effectively and efficiently in a multi-disciplined and dynamic work environment
This position is full-time (35 hours per week) and is a union position included within the Burlington Municipal Employees Association (BMEA). This position is classified at Grade 6 of the BMEA Classification Plan and offers comprehensive and generous benefits.
