Young Adult Librarian

Burlington, MA
The Burlington Public Library seeks an energetic, enthusiastic professional who is a team player and loves working with teens.  This is a full time position, 35 hour per week, which includes evenings and Saturdays in rotation.
This position is responsible for the overall delivery of YA/Teen services.  Responsibilities include:
  • Development of a comprehensive program that encourages young adults to be active library users.
  • Purchasing and maintaining the young adult collection.
  • Developing and presenting programs for young adults, including after school and summer reading programs.
  • Promoting library services to young adults.
  • Conducting outreach to the Middle and High School students, teachers and librarians.
  • Creating and contributing content to the library’s website and social media sites for young adults.
  • Supervise Youth Services staff, library pages and volunteers in the absence of the department head.

This position is full-time (35 hours per week) and is a union position included within the Burlington Municipal Employees Association (BMEA). Salary at Grade 9: $27.73 per hour and includes comprehensive and generous benefits.
