Reference Librarian

Reporting to the Head of Reference, this position supports a busy Reference Department through collection development, programming, and customer service for an institution that prides itself on innovative and robust services for its community.

- Assists patrons with information requests and performs detailed research work utilizing print sources, subscription databases, and the Internet.
- Participates in the building, evaluation, and selection of the adult collection.
- Develops and presents programs and training workshops to meet the needs of the public.
- Acts as Librarian-in-Charge in the absence of the Library Director, Assistant Director and Head of Reference, usually during evening or weekend hours.
- Performs technology related tasks including troubleshooting hardware and software issues.

This is a full time position, 35 hours per week. Hours are negotiable and will include evenings and/or weekends. Opportunity to work Sundays and summer Saturdays as overtime shifts.
Anticipated start date is June 3, 2024.
This is a union position within the Burlington Municipal Employees Association bargaining unit. Salary is within Grade 9 of the BMEA contract. Pay range starts at $34.08/hr with the opportunity to advance to a max rate of $47.66/hr through annual increases, and includes comprehensive and generous benefits.

- Masters of Library Science degree
- 2 years of library experience, including experience in reference services
