Recreation Maintenance Craftsman/Mechanic

Burlington, MA
Reporting to the Superintendent of Recreation Maintenance, the Recreation Maintenance Craftsman/Mechanic will be responsible to perform supervisory and manual work related to the operation of recreation maintenance equipment.

Examples of work include:
  • Performs the majority of the repair and maintenance of the Recreation Maintenance equipment; diagnosis technical difficulties and makes necessary repairs and adjustments
  • Performs preventative maintenance work
  • Performs emergency repairs in the field as necessary and responds to other related emergencies
  • Works with Superintendent of Recreation Maintenance and Foreman on establishing a priority list of repairs
  • Maintains appropriate and accurate records of repair and maintenance logs
  • Coordinates the purchase of necessary parts for the repair of equipment with the Superintendent of Recreation Maintenance
  • Operates, maintains, and repairs equipment
  • Performs related duties as required
Minimum qualifications include:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of 1 year of landscape construction and maintenance experience
  • Valid Class B CDL, MA Hoisting Engineers License, and Certified Pool Operator License
  • Knowledge of principles, procedures, methods and techniques involved in the repair and maintenance of departmental equipment
  • Mechanical abilities to repair and maintain a variety of equipment
  • Ability to communicate effectively and maintain good public relations
This is a full time, 40 hours per week union position within the Burlington Municipal Employees Association bargaining unit.

Salary is within Grade 7, of the BMEA contract, offering annual increases via step system. Pay starts at $31.61/hour, with comprehensive and generous benefits.
