Reporting to the Director of Parks and Recreation, the Administrative Assistant I performs skilled administrative work in supporting the activities for the Parks and Recreation Department.
Essential functions include, but are not limited to:
Assists residents (in person, electronically and by telephone) with program registrations, online accounts, transfers, cancellations, passes, fishing permits, and movie tickets as necessary
Updates participants regarding changes in recreation programming
Reconciles the end of day report; cash journal, general ledger report and activity fees
Assists instructors with roster and attendance sheets
Orders supplies, receives and delivers departmental mail
Prepares agenda, meeting packages and assists with special events
Performs other duties as required
Minimum qualifications include
High school diploma with 3 years’ related experience.
Proficiency in standard office computer applications including spreadsheet and database programs. RecTrac knowledge preferred
Ability to organize time and work independently
Ability to maintain accurate records
Must be able to function effectively and efficiently in a multi-disciplined and dynamic work environment.
Ability to deal effectively with the general public, other departments and business representatives.
Must maintain a high level of confidentiality.
Must be able to lift and/or move objects weighing up to 10lbs
This is a full-time, 35 hours per week, union position within the Burlington Municipal Employees Association bargaining unit.
Salary is within Grade 6, of the BMEA contract, offering annual step increases via step system. Pay starts at $29.53/hour, with comprehensive & generous benefits.
