Library Technology Specialist

The Burlington Public Library takes pride in the innovative services, programs and materials that it provides to its community.  Conveniently located 14 miles northwest of Boston and easily accessible from Route 95/128 and Route 3, Burlington is home to 26,000 residents and a robust collection of businesses.  This vibrant community welcomes approximately 150,000 people per day to work, eat, and shop.  Reporting to the Director of the Library, this position is responsible for maintaining computers, software, networks and services, and assisting in developing new structures and services.

Major duties include, but are not limited to:
  • Setting up, maintaining, and troubleshooting public-use and staff computers
  • Identifying opportunities to improve existing services and workflows
  • Working with the Town IT Department and the Merrimack Valley Library Consortium IT staff to identify and resolve issues, strengthen cybersecurity activities, and maintain computers and Library networks
  • Supporting a diverse set of software and services, including the Integrated Library System, self-checkout stations, integrated audio-visual components in function rooms, the Library website, and Microsoft SharePoint
  • Other duties related to the primary scope of the position
Recommended minimum qualifications include
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent
  • Hands-on experience in set up, maintenance, and repair of personal computer and network technology
  • Advanced knowledge of Windows Operating Systems and Office 365
  • Knowledge of library technology needs
This is a part-time, non-benefited position, 19 hours per week.  The schedule is negotiable.

Pay range starts at $28.08/hr with the opportunity to advance to a max rate of $29.79/hr through bi-annual increases.
