The Town of Burlington seeks applicants to perform outreach and administrative work for Burlington Youth & Family Services (BYFS), a Town department responsible for providing mental health and social services to families with adolescents and young adults. BYFS also provides information and referral services for all residents regardless of age.
Essential functions include, but are not limited to:
Case management and housing solutions for youth ages 17-24 living in the Burlington community; work with community agencies to identify youth who are at imminent risk of or are currently homeless
Conduct intake assessments utilizing the Homeless Management Information System (HMIS)
Engage with the Youth Advisory Board (YAB) and with Town and community agencies
Provide referrals and advocacy to stabilize the household and support financial independence
Engage the identified youth in a coordinated entry process that emphasizes housing first
Support youth in stabilizing their income and lifestyle in a way that supports permanent affordable housing
Become familiar with and implement all requirements of HUD/DHCD grant award
Utilize input and participation from Youth Advisory Board throughout the grant period
Refer youth to services and benefits that will help support on-going sustainability of their household
Minimum qualifications include
BA in Social Work or counseling field is preferred
2 years’ experience working with transition age youth and/or homeless population
Equivalent lived experience will be considered a valid substitute for education
Driver’s license is required, and regular access to a private vehicle is preferred, although there is a company vehicle available at times
This is a non-union position. Starting rate is $25.00/hour, and includes benefits.
Full-time position (35 hours per week) over a 4-day workweek to include two (2) evenings.
This is a grand-funded 2 year position, with the possibility that it will be extended in 1-year increments if the program outcomes are evaluated as successful.

MA General Laws mandate that any individual having direct contact at any time with either children or senior citizens be subject to CORI screening by the Criminal History Systems Board. Any conditional offer of employment is contingent upon satisfactory CORI results.
